Summer Happenings in Toronto

Summer is when Toronto truly comes alive, and this summer will be especially exciting! Between the FIFA World Cup bringing international energy to the city, patio season in full swing, outdoor concerts, theatre nights, festivals, comedy shows, baseball games, and waterfront events, there will be no shortage of reasons to get out and enjoy the city.

Big summer events and festivals

FIFA World Cup 2026 in Toronto
This is the big one. Toronto is hosting six FIFA World Cup matches at BMO Field, including Canada’s opening match on Friday, June 12. The other Toronto match dates are June 17, June 20, June 23, June 26, and July 2, with the final match in our city being a Round of 32 game.

Even if you’re not going to a game in person, the city will be buzzing with World Cup energy, and the FIFA Fan Festival at Fort York and The Bentway will runs from June 11 to July 19, with big screens, live entertainment, food, drinks, and all the international summer excitement.

Luminato Festival - June 3 to 28
Luminato is back with a city-wide arts festival, and this year’s theme is “PLAY.” Expect a mix of theatre, dance, music, public art, and unexpected performances around the city. Including three performances of Penn & Teller: 50 Years of Magic. It’s always one of those festivals that makes Toronto feel more creative and alive.

TD Toronto Jazz Festival - June 19 to 28
The Toronto Jazz Festival is one of the prettiest excuses to spend a warm evening in Yorkville. There are open-air performances, ticketed shows, and concerts in venues around the city. It is perfect for a dinner-and-show kind of night.

Pride Toronto - June 25 to 28
Pride weekend is always one of the biggest, most energetic weekends of the summer, with the street fair, marches, parade, parties, performances, and community events taking over the city.

Toronto Caribbean Carnival - August 1st
Carnival season brings some of the best colour, music, and energy of the summer. Key events include the Junior Carnival Parade on July 18, the King & Queen Showcase on July 30, and the Grand Parade on August 1 along the lakeshore.

Concerts

Summer concert season is always one of the best parts of living in Toronto, and this year’s lineup is packed with big names. From pop and rock to country, EDM, throwback favourites, and major festival-style weekends, there are a lot of shows worth putting on the calendar. It is the perfect kind of summer plan: great music, an electric crowd, and a night that you can let loose and have more than just a little fun. Some standout shows are:

  • May 21: Imagine Dragons

  • June 4: Josh Groban & special guest Jennifer Hudson

  • June 6 to 7: All Things Go Music Festival, with Kesha, Lorde, The Beaches, Wet Leg, and more

Casa Loma Summer Series, June 8 to September 7
Casa Loma’s Summer Series is back, with live music in the gardens three nights a week. Mondays are Symphony in the Gardens, Tuesdays are Rock Symphony, and Wednesdays are Tribute Shows, all set against the backdrop of the castle, the gardens, and the city skyline. The BlueBlood VIP Experience, which includes a prix fixe dinner at BlueBlood Steakhouse before the show, plus reserved seating for the performance, is the perfect way to experience the magic of the evening.

Sports

Blue Jays at Rogers Centre
A summer Blue Jays game is basically a Toronto classic. I would not overthink the matchup. Pick a sunny evening or weekend game, grab a drink, and root for the home team!

Toronto Tempo inaugural WNBA season
This is a very cool year for Toronto sports because the Toronto Tempo are starting their first WNBA season. Their season kicks off in May, so summer will be a great time to catch a game and be part of the first-year energy.

Toronto FC and Argos
Toronto FC has summer home games at BMO Field, although the World Cup will affect parts of the schedule. The Argos also return to BMO Field later in the summer, with their home opener August 6.
