Toronto Fall Date Guide

As the leaves start to turn and the city swaps iced coffees for pumpkin spice, Toronto is stepping into one of its most vibrant seasons of the year. Theatres are buzzing with blockbuster musicals and intimate dramas, the streets pulse with the last wave of festivals, and the roar of sports fans fills the arenas as the Blue Jays are still going strong, and the Leafs and Raptors return to action. From the glitter of the TIFF red carpets to the magic of Mirvish stages, and the energy of packed stadiums, fall in Toronto isn’t just a season—it’s a show.

So here’s my guide to the best date ideas and events lighting up Toronto this fall.

Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF)

Canada’s crown jewel of cinema returns with its 50th edition from September 4–14. Every year the city is transformed into a red-carpet stage, celebrating a vibrant mix of global premieres, awards-season contenders, and bold new voices. The festival brings plenty of star power to Toronto!

Sports Spotlight: Toronto’s Fall Lineup

Toronto’s sporting calendar is brimming with excitement, and to me there’s nothing quite like watching a game live! The Blue Jays are charging toward the playoffs and soon we’ve got the Leafs and Raptors back at Scotiabank Arena — the energy of those home openers is electric!

Toronto Blue Jays

The Blue Jays are having a standout 2025 season! The MLB regular season wraps up in late September, with the final games leading into playoffs in October. Toronto is virtually locked into a postseason spot, with ESPN estimating a better than 99% chance of making it.

There are still quite a few homes games in the regular season to catch, and hopefully the playoffs in October!

Toronto Maple Leafs

Every year feels like the year for the Leafs, and this season the buzz is just as loud, the big question is whether this team can finally turn regular-season firepower into a deep playoff run. I’m already counting down to that home opener — there’s no better way to start the season in Toronto!

Their first pre-season home game is on September 23 vs the Ottawa Senators, and they play the Montreal Canadians at home again September 27.

The regular season kicks off on October 8 vs the Montreal Canadians — the rivalry always adds to the excitement!

Toronto Raptors

The Raptors are heading into the new season with fresh energy and plenty of questions. Preseason at Scotiabank Arena will give us the first taste, and I can’t wait to see how the team sets the tone for the year.

Their first pre-season home game will be October 6 vs the Denver Nuggets. With two more on October 10 and 17.

And the season opener is unfortunately away, but October 24th they come home to kick off the regular season vs the Milwaukee Bucks.

Mirvish Theater

If your idea of a perfect fall night leans more toward stage lights than stadium lights, there are some notable productions starting soon.
